Material tanah, batu, dan pohon-pohon tumbang menutupi jalan dan menimbun beberapa kendaraan yang sedang melintas.

Tim gabungan dari Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), TNI, Polri, dan relawan segera melakukan evakuasi. Dari hasil pencarian, ditemukan 9 korban tewas yang terdiri dari berbagai usia dan latar belakang. Beberapa di antaranya adalah Dimas Solin (18) warga Pakpak Bharat dan Rosmita (46) warga lokal Kecamatan Sibolangit, Deli Serdang. Lima lainnya adalah warga dari berbagai daerah yang sedang melintas di jalur tersebut.

Upaya pembersihan material longsor dan pemulihan jalur Medan-Berastagi masih berlangsung. Alat berat dikerahkan untuk membersihkan puing-puing dan memastikan jalur aman untuk dilalui kembali. Namun, hingga saat ini, jalur tersebut masih ditutup untuk sementara waktu guna menghindari risiko lebih lanjut.
